Audio, Video and Flash

More than words on a page

Internet connections are faster and media is richer. Are you using the latest and greatest multimedia technology to your advantage?

If a picture’s worth a thousand words, what’s a full-motion video worth?  What about a portable audio presentation?

For many products,  the best way to demonstrate them is to show them in action.  Or perhaps you think a better way to do the traditionally boring “About Us” section might be to present a video facility tour, letting your key execs introduce themselves along the way.

These are just a few examples of where it may make sense to utilize Flash or video in the design of your website.  As video production costs have dropped, Internet bandwidth has increased, and the proportion of user broadband access has risen, the use of these delivery mechanisms in B-to-B websites has grown rapidly.

Not that long ago, Flash acquired a bit of a negative reputation from being overused, and usually in the wrong way ...most irritatingly as a full-screen in-line “introduction” to a website (or in the most egregious cases, as the entire site!).  But using it properly – that is, strategically incorporated within a page’s content – can provide anything from a nominal amount of visual interest to a comprehensive product demo.

Podcasts have lately become all but mainstream for B-to-B's in support of that lengthy nurturing part of the sales cycle.  They’re ideal for delivering near-whitepaper or webinar type content to on-the-go prospect execs who can’t be pinned down to fixed times or who prefer not to read large amounts of information on-screen. As part of your website redesign – or just an in-between enhancement – eMagine’s professionals can work with you to identify appropriate opportunities for deploying these rich media on your site, and/or assist you with the development process, too.
